What is lead retrieval?

Lead retrieval is the exhibitor-facing capability that converts a badge scan at a stand into a qualified contact record, typically with notes and a CRM export.

lead retrieval in detail

Also written as lead capture, booth scanning.

Lead retrieval is the product an exhibitor buys so that a conversation at their stand becomes a record in their sales system. It is the commercial heart of most trade shows.

In practice at an event

An exhibitor’s staff scan visitors’ badges on a phone or a rented device. Each scan returns the attendee’s contact details, as consented to at registration. Good implementations let the exhibitor add qualification notes and a rating at the moment of the scan, work offline when the hall’s connectivity fails, and export or sync into a CRM afterwards.

For the show organizer it is frequently a paid add-on sold to exhibitors, which makes it revenue rather than cost.

What to look for

Consent is the part that must be right. The attendee has to know, at registration, that scanning at a stand shares their details with that exhibitor. Selling an attendee list wholesale is a different thing and it damages the trust the event runs on.

Then check offline behaviour, because exhibition halls are where connectivity fails, and CRM export, because an exhibitor who cannot get the leads out has not received the product.

Where event67 stands

event67 does not do lead retrieval. It has no exhibitor tooling, no booth scanning and no CRM sync, and none of these is planned within the claims of this site.

This matters because event67 does have a QR feature, and the two are easy to confuse in a screenshot. event67’s QR is attendee to attendee: two people meeting in person scan each other and become connections. It produces no exhibitor record and nothing enters a CRM. If your sponsorship packages promise lead capture, that is a separate tool and belongs separately in your budget.
