What is event app adoption?
Event app adoption is the share of an event's attendees who install or open the event app and use it during the event.
event app adoption in detail
Also written as app uptake.
Adoption is the number most organizers care about and the one they have the most control over — though not in the place they expect. Very little of it is decided by the app.
In practice at an event
Four things move adoption, in order of effect.
The invitation. Give a reason to open it now. “Build your agenda before the workshops fill up” outperforms “download our event app”, because the first names something the attendee wants and the second names something you want.
The registration desk. One person whose job is helping people install, not scanning badges. The queue at the door is where most of your adoption happens.
Ten seconds from the stage. The chair says what the app is for and one thing to do in it right now, in the first ten minutes. It is worth more than three emails.
A schedule that is true. An attendee sent to an empty room stops trusting the app and does not come back. This is the fastest way to lose adoption you already had.
What to look for
Do not compare your rate to a vendor’s published benchmark, because the definitions differ and are rarely disclosed. Compare to your own last event, with the same denominator.
Also check the failure path: what does an attendee see if they open the app before the event starts? An empty screen at that moment costs adoption at exactly the point somebody was willing to look.
How event67 handles it
Invitations are unlimited and never metered, so there is no cost reason to invite fewer people. Delivery is tracked per recipient, which is how a bounced invitation gets found before the attendee arrives without the app. And because billing runs on activation rather than on registrations, the product has no incentive to inflate the number.
