What is a branded event app?

A branded event app is an event app that carries the organizer's name, logo and colours rather than the vendor's, in at least the app's interior and at most its app store listing.

branded event app in detail

Also written as white-label event app, custom branded app.

“Branded event app” is one phrase covering four different products, and the difference between them is the most consequential thing a buyer can fail to ask about.

In practice at an event

The four shapes, from least to most:

  1. Themed container app. Your event is styled with your colours inside the vendor’s app. Attendees download the vendor’s brand and find you inside it.
  2. Branded web app. Your identity, often your domain, no store listing, nothing to install.
  3. Own-name app on the vendor’s developer account. Your name in the stores, their account. The listing moves if you change vendors.
  4. Own-name app on your own developer account. Your name, your account, your listing, permanently.

An attendee experiences one and four very differently. In one, the icon on their phone is somebody else’s company. In four, it is your event.

What to look for

Ask two questions and the marketing resolves itself: which of the four shapes is this, and whose developer account is it published under? Then ask what the total elapsed time is from content freeze to the app being live in both stores, because a store review is a real timeline and it cannot be compressed at the end.

Some vendors state plainly that they do not offer a store-listed branded app, and argue the position from download rates. That is a legitimate product view; what matters is that you know which one you bought.

How event67 handles it

event67 publishes native apps to the Apple App Store and Google Play under the event’s own name, with the organizer’s logo, colours and typography running through every screen. The theme editor checks every colour pair against WCAG AA and surfaces the measured result, warning and confirming rather than blocking the save.
