What is an attendee app?

An attendee app is event software built for the people attending — schedule, networking and live interaction — that deliberately does not handle registration, ticketing or badging.

attendee app in detail

Also written as event companion app.

“Attendee app” names one half of the event software market. It is the half that serves the people in the room rather than the transaction that got them there, and the category boundary is a purchasing decision rather than a technical one.

In practice at an event

An attendee app carries the schedule and personal agenda, the directory and connections, live Q&A and polls, session feedback, photos, sponsor listings and announcements. It assumes somebody else — a registration platform, a ticketing site, an internal invitation list — has already produced the list of people who are coming.

The organizer side of an attendee app is a console for content, invitations, check-in, moderation and analytics. It is not a CRM and it is not a finance system.

What to look for

Published entry prices for attendee apps sit substantially below full suites, which is the practical reason the distinction matters. If you already have registration, buying a suite means paying again for something you have.

Check the boundary explicitly in any bid. Products that describe themselves as attendee apps sometimes include lightweight registration, and products that describe themselves as suites sometimes have a weak app. The label is marketing; the feature answers are not.

How event67 handles it

event67 is an attendee app and says so. Registration, ticketing, payments, badge printing, exhibitor lead retrieval, streaming and floor plans are all outside it, and each of those is a stated exclusion rather than a roadmap item. Attendees arrive by invitation, typically imported from whatever system already holds them, and are billed only once they claim that invitation and open the app.
