What is an event website?

An event website is the web presence for a single event, which may be a public marketing site that sells attendance or a private attendee site carrying the programme.

event website in detail

Also written as event site, event microsite.

Two different things are called an event website, and they serve opposite purposes.

In practice at an event

The marketing site is public. Its job is to persuade people to come: the pitch, the speakers, the dates, the price, and a path to registration. It wants to be found by search engines.

The attendee event site is for people who are already coming. It carries the schedule, the sessions, the speakers and any forms, and it is the browser equivalent of the app. It usually should not be indexed at all, because it is a private surface for a defined group and its content is not written for strangers.

The second one also does real work for accessibility and adoption: an attendee who will not install anything still has the event, and a link in an email opens something rather than an app store page.

What to look for

Be clear which one a vendor is offering. A “website builder” in an event platform is usually the marketing kind; a “web app” is usually the attendee kind. They are rarely the same product and both may be needed.

For the attendee site, check whether it is a full equivalent of the app or a stripped-down schedule, because that decides what happens to the attendee who never installs.

How event67 handles it

event67 provides an organizer-branded attendee event site with event home, sessions, speakers and forms, alongside the native apps. It is deliberately noindex, nofollow, because it is a private surface for people already attending.

It does not provide a public marketing website builder for selling attendance. That, along with registration, sits with whatever platform handles your sign-ups.
